Recently I have embarked on a tattooing apprenticeship, today I am going to do my 10th tattoo which is a little milestone I guess. I’m always open to designing a tattoo for you (not actually tattooing) and my design rate starts from as little as £40 so do get in touch. I’m just learning so my work is very rough at the moment but some lovely souls have let me practice on them. In other news I’ve started work on a beautiful book which will be published next year. Check out the snowy concept artwork below. Finally I have moved into my brand new studio upstairs at the Make and the Craft Kitchen. Ive already made some new toys so look out for them at Boxparks Tusch und Egon and Southsea’s Pie & Vinyl.
However I thoroughly recommend a visit to P and V as it is one of the most magical shops ever dreamt up. Where else can you eat pie, ice cream sundaes and drink ginger bear out of tea pots and buy records?
On Saturday 19th July you will be able to join me at Make for a toy rabbit workshop.
The workshop has been especially developed for Make with an exclusive toy patterned designed by me for you to keep and use again. The class is suitable for ages 8 and up, but can be enjoyed by all ages. I would recommend if a young crafter wants to come that they team up with an adult partner as we will be using sewing machines.
Apart from it being heaps of fun as you get to bring to life your own Ooh la Lapin bunny you will also learn skills like hand embroidery, basic machine sewing and toy design.
Here are the details:
Saturday 19th July 10am – 12noon
Cost – £20 includes all materials and toy pattern.
Make – Southsea Craft Cafe, 4 Albert Road, Southsea, PO5 2SH
Places are limited so book by calling Make on 023 9282 2026 or email email@example.com or firstname.lastname@example.org
I had the enormous pleasure of meeting Victoria today from The Owl and the Accordion an uber beautiful kitchy/crafty blog. I am making a doll for her out of a treasured baby grow that belonged to her daughter. The doll is a present for her daughter, what a sweet idea?
We both discovered we had lots in common, especially buying ornaments/vintage, bits of crochet and too many cushions. We then rounded off a cup of tea with a visit to my favourite shop in the world Flo & Stan. They also happen to stock my toys, I’m not biased it genuinely is the best little shop ever!
So whoa what a weekend, check out our London adventures. Must say we were happy to return to beautiful Southsea and enjoyed the beach all day today, London we love you but hey it aint no Southsea. Highlights included De Hems in Soho, Tokyo Fixed Gear and Boxpark in Shoreditch where I ate the best burger of my life at Bukowski accompanied by a fine 7% organic cider mmmmmm.
Then back home to this…
Get your bad self down to LJR’s on May 31st for the launch of the Strong Island Clothing Company, expect free merch and goodies, music by our good friends Pet Sounds plus the clothing on sale at the party.
So this week has been totally epic, sorry for a lack of lapin related updates. This week I was doing a rabbit workshops using the work of Shepard Fairey OBEY as an example for the kids. Also this week has included the usual lovliness of friends, food, bikes and loves.
