You can find all these beautiful items for sale in the lacasadecoto shop on etsy. To be honest who wouldn’t love one of the colourful chunky crochet cushions?
I really like the rag rugs and saw some similar handmade ones on my travels in the Spanish Sierra Nevada mountains a few years ago. Makers were sat outside small mountain village houses weaving and rag rugging in tiny streets. It’s so wonderful how craft can evoke so many memories and feelings. Just one of the special things about owning a handmade piece.

Im so so thrilled to at last have a studio space again! Its been over a year since I last had a work space to make in.
Our little dog Margot is settling in so well, she sleeps by my feet under the desk as I sew and embroider.
We have faced so many hardships over the past year as a family and I can at last try and have some peace, quiet and space to think and relax in. I don’t underestimate what a special thing this is.
British Sea Birds will be available next week exclusively from Southsea Coffee!
Every now and again I come across the work of someone I just fall in love with. Starling Brood is just this and it’s love at first site.
Quiet, muted and beautifully crafted items in her online store from ceramics to embroidery with a love of tea and mycology. She even worked with Bjork to design new musical instruments and her bio is inspiring.
Ah at last I feel its appropriate to start posting about Christmas. This week I started to cut out paper snowflakes to go in the window of our tiny house and it made me feel so excited.
As we are on such a tight budget for Christmas my friends and family have warned me not to buy any gifts for them and just concentrate on our children. I will however make some pretty things as one thing I don’t lack in is fabric and crafty things.
My other gift to my dearest ones is a Swedish style meal and party on Christmas Eve. Spending time with loved ones is what Christmas is all about and also for me making the house even more kitsch. Is that possible?
Here are some of my favourite ideas to inspire you!
How to make 5 pointed snow flake from How about Orange. I followed this and then just varied the cuts I made to produce different designs.
Felt Christmas Ornament Tutorial from Zakka Life. So easy to make and very pretty, I will so be making a few of these!
The lovely ingthings is always full of wonderful ideas, images and super pretty things. I like this pom pom garland with a vintage Christmas ornament hanging from it. So sweet.
Hello Sandwich Advent Calendar garland. A wonderful way to reuse old envelopes, boxes, paper, cards, stamps and other bits of ephemera.
Eat Drink Chic free downloadable Holiday Gift Tags. How beautiful are these? Also I think it is so generous of artists to make there work available for free. As long as we don’t abuse it and try and re-sell them or pass them off as our own! Heaven forbid. The blog also has many other wonderful ideas and freebies so enjoy and GET CRAFTING!
Today I was in the beautiful aspex gallery with some of the Southsea Sisters making flags to decorate Albert Road for Southsea Fest! With my trustee suitcase of vintage fabrics, and plenty of good company and tea we spent 2 hours sewing these beauties. Photos will follow next weekend when the flags are put up!
As I have been enjoying some time off I have been able to get back on the crafting hype. Evenings have consisted of crocheting and the daytime has been made up of sewing lovely toys.
All toys will be available to buy soon from Flo and Stan.
Its rare you find a dress that is both pretty, comfortable and stylish. I recently bought a sweet little grey dress from White Stuff and loved the cut so much I decided to copy the cut and add some details. I did all for £9.20! The fabric I purchased was a light silky viscose fabric that hangs and drapes beautifully, 2meters was more than ample. The lace collar was 99p and both were purchased form Fabric Land in Portsmouth. I was pleasantly surprised to find the fabric as Fabric Land can be very hit and miss and also the sweet little collar. With the excess fabric I created a sash to pull in my waist, it’s safe to say I am more than happy with my new dress.

I was really pleased to be able to interview Lauren from Thread and Butter, check out the article here on Strong Island. Im hoping Lauren will be doing a sparkly guest post on Ooh la Lapin soon!
